Konya Karapınar Geopark launches photography competition

The Konya Metropolitan Municipality has launched a photography competition to promote the natural, geological, and cultural riches of the Konya Karapınar Geopark. The initiative aims to document unique geological features such as maars, sinkholes, volcanic formations, dunes, erosion areas, travertines, and fault formations, as well as underground cities and ancient settlements.

By showcasing these sites through photography, the municipality seeks to increase the region's visibility within the UNESCO Global Geoparks Network and boost its geotourism potential. The competition also serves to preserve the geological heritage of Karapınar for future generations.

The total prize pool is 85,000 TL, with the first prize awarded at 30,000 TL, second prize at 25,000 TL, and third prize at 20,000 TL. An honorable mention prize of 10,000 TL is also available. The deadline for applications is November 30.
