Konya Ring Road project to connect seven major transport axes
Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu has provided updates on the 122-kilometer Konya Ring Road project, which is being implemented in three distinct stages. The project aims to connect seven major transportation axes, including routes to Ankara, Afyonkarahisar, and Adana.
Work is currently progressing on the second stage, specifically a 16.1-kilometer section between Aksaray and Adana. This segment is expected to be completed by the end of 2026, reducing travel time by 24 minutes and providing annual savings of approximately 1.586 billion lira in time and fuel, while reducing carbon emissions by 24,101 tons.
Once the entire 46.1-kilometer second stage is operational, travel times are projected to decrease by 40 minutes, yielding annual savings of 3.078 billion lira and a reduction of 42,303 tons in carbon emissions. The third stage, spanning 54 kilometers, is also underway and will connect Konya to several state roads, including Beyşehir and Karaman, involving the construction of tunnels, viaducts, and bridges.
