Konya Fire Department Becomes First Municipal Service Accredited by JOIFF

Konya Büyükşehir Municipality’s fire department received accreditation from the International Organisation for Fire and Rescue Services (JOIFF), becoming the first local government fire service globally to meet the organization’s international standards for industrial fire‑fighting training.

Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay toured the newly opened International Industrial Fire Response Training Centre, noting that the centre will deliver training to both foreign firefighters visiting Konya and to Konya personnel who will travel abroad. The accreditation allows the centre to offer programs to fire services in the 57 member states of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation.

The JOIFF accreditation certifies that the centre’s facilities, curricula, safety management and instructor qualifications comply with international criteria, positioning the Konya fire department as a hub for industrial emergency preparedness worldwide.
