Konya Metropolitan Municipality hosts fairy tale art exhibition

The Konya Metropolitan Municipality has opened the “Doğu Masalları: Bir Varmış Bir Yokmuş” (Eastern Fairy Tales: Once Upon a Time) exhibition at Depo No:4. The event, which will run for three months, features works from 17 painters from Turkey and various other geographic regions, exploring how both Eastern and Western perspectives interpret fairy tales.

The exhibition utilizes diverse artistic disciplines, including wood carving, scrap metal, diorama, digital arts, textiles, and basket weaving. It aims to reinterpret shared cultural memories through stories such as Aladdin, Keloğlan, Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves, and Kalila and Dimna. A special section is also dedicated to Hanna Diyap to examine the transmission of tales across generations and cultures.

Visitors can experience the atmosphere through five specialized experience rooms, including a Documentary Room featuring video-art and a Konya Fairy Tales Room that highlights the city's local oral traditions and cultural memory.
