Konya Metropolitan Municipality launches Umrah project for retirees and veterans

The Konya Metropolitan Municipality has launched the ‘Vefa Umresi’ project, a program designed to facilitate Umrah pilgrimages for retirees and veterans who have not previously had the opportunity to visit the holy lands.

The first group of participants, selected via lottery, was sent off with prayers during the Mevlid Kandili observance. Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay stated that the project aims to support these citizens who have made significant contributions to the city and the country throughout their lives.

The pilgrimage is being conducted in coordination with the Presidency of Religious Affairs. The initial group is scheduled to visit Mecca first to perform Umrah rituals, followed by visits to Medina.
