Konya opens culinary heritage museum and adds two dishes to its geographic‑indication list
Karatay Municipality and the Mevlâna Development Agency (MEVKA) signed a protocol to create the “Anadolu’dakiler Konya Kitchen Culture Museum and Experience Centre.” The project, attended by Minister Mehmet Fatih Kacır, Karatay Mayor Hasan Kılca, Konya Governor İbrahim Akın, MP Mustafa Hakan Özer and Metropolitan Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay, will document traditional dishes, host hands‑on workshops and promote gastronomic tourism. Partners include the Konya Culture and Tourism Directorate, the Turkish Travel Agencies Association and Necmettin Erbakan University.
In a separate announcement, Metropolitan Mayor Altay reported that the traditional Karamık Otlu Soup and Sille Kurabiyesi received geographic‑indication registration, raising the total number of protected Konya products to 91. The mayor highlighted the importance of preserving the city’s culinary legacy and its contribution to regional identity and the local economy.
