Konya Prison riot claims denied by Turkish authorities

Authorities in Konya have denied reports of a riot or conflict at the Konya E Tipi Closed Prison. Official statements from the Konya Police Department and the Konya Chief Public Prosecutor's Office clarified that no such incident occurred and that there were no deaths or injuries among inmates.

Following the spread of these claims on social media and various internet platforms, legal actions have been initiated. The Konya Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has issued detention orders for eight suspects suspected of spreading false information. Additionally, the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office launched an investigation into the dissemination of misleading information, resulting in a court order to block access to 21 social media accounts.

The false reports caused significant movement near the prison as relatives of inmates gathered to check on their loved ones. Officials have urged the public to remain cautious and avoid trusting unverified information shared on digital platforms.
