Konya strengthens its identity as a bicycle city

The Konya Metropolitan Municipality is conducting various activities to promote bicycle culture and increase interest in cycling sports among students, reinforcing its status as the 2026 European Capital of Cycling.

In collaboration with the Provincial Directorate of National Education, students from Meram Mehmet Akif İnan Anatolian High School visited the Konya Olympic Velodrome, the only facility of its kind in Turkey. During the visit, students received information about the velodrome's features and cycling sports from officials before riding on local bicycle paths.

Additionally, students from Selçuklu Atatürk Anatolian High School participated in a seminar regarding cycling sports at the Velespit Museum. The event featured Konya Bicycle Provincial Representative Ali Demirel, bicycle team coach Miraç Kal, and athlete Batuhan Özgür, who shared professional experiences with the students. The program concluded with a tour of the museum to explore the historical development of the bicycle.
