Konya Sufi ensemble performs in Kairouan, Tunisia

The Konya Metropolitan Municipality Turkish Sufi Music and Sema Ensemble performed in the historic city of Kairouan, Tunisia, as part of Mevlid-i Nebi celebrations. The event was organized through a collaboration between the Turkish Embassy in Tunisia, the Tunisian Ministry of Culture, and the Kairouan International Mevlid-i Nebi Celebrations Association.

A 21-member group performed works of Turkish Sufi music followed by a Sema ceremony. During the opening remarks, Ahmet Misbah Demircan, the Turkish Ambassador to Tunisia, addressed the spiritual significance of the Sema, noting that the act of bowing symbolizes modesty and inner reflection rather than defeat. He emphasized that the ceremony represents unity through shared values and the preservation of moral centers in a changing world.

The event served as a cultural bridge between Konya and Tunisia, highlighting the shared spiritual heritage and the universal teachings of Mevlana Celaleddin Rumi regarding mercy, justice, and humility.
