Konya to host 15th International Mevlânâ Poetry Festival

The 15th International Mevlânâ Poetry Festival and Poetry Workshop is scheduled to take place in Konya on Saturday, September 26. Organized by the Karatay Municipality and the Konya Branch of the Turkish Writers Union, with support from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the event is dedicated to the memory of the prominent Turkish intellectual D. Mehmet Doğan.

The festival will bring together poets and writers from various regions, including Kyrgyzstan, Tatarstan, Azerbaijan, East Turkestan, Iraq/Kirkuk, and Palestine. The program begins with a poetry workshop and a panel titled ‘The Current State of Contemporary Poetry’ at the Karatay Cultural Center.

Following the workshop, poetry readings will be held at the Hz. Mevlânâ Dargah. The festivities will conclude in the evening at the Mevlânâ Dargah Rose Garden with poetry recitations and a Sufi music performance featuring artists such as Muhammet Yuşa Aydın, Ahmet Safa Mızrak, Furkan Sarı, İbrahim Genç, and Şükrü Fırat.
