Konya wheat field fire destroys large portion of crops

A fire broke out in the Meccan Yaylası area of Emirgazi district, Konya Province, after an electrical transformer ignited. The blaze quickly spread to a wheat field owned by Yusuf A., burning most of the planted area.

Local residents called the fire brigade while nearby farmers used tractors to create firebreaks and prevent the flames from reaching additional farmland. Firefighters and the farmers’ efforts eventually contained and extinguished the fire. An investigation has been launched to determine the exact cause of the transformer fire, and the damaged crop area is being assessed.

No injuries were reported, but the incident has caused significant loss for the farmer and highlights risks associated with electrical infrastructure near agricultural land.
