Kootenay Gallery of Art unveils two new Nelson artist exhibitions

On August 13 the Kootenay Gallery of Art in Nelson, British Columbia, opened two new exhibitions showcasing local talent.

Heather Good’s solo show, Understory, features more than 20 abstract mixed‑media pieces inspired by forests, landscapes and the layered vegetation of the forest understory. Good says the work is meant to draw viewers closer to nature and reflect her personal memories of outdoor walks.

Kimberley Hyatt presents a multimedia exhibition titled For the Love of Dog, which celebrates the playfulness and joy that dogs bring, using personal emotions and experiences to create vulnerable, relatable artwork.

Curator Fletcher Quince, who has been working with both artists for over a year, notes that the contrasting shows complement each other and highlight the creative process behind the artworks.
