B.C. police investigate two fatal vehicle incidents
Police in British Columbia are investigating two separate fatal incidents involving vehicles.
In Burnaby, the B.C. Highway Patrol is investigating the discovery of an adult male's body on Highway 1, just east of Kensington Avenue. The body was found in the eastbound lanes on Tuesday morning, with injuries consistent with being struck by a vehicle. Authorities are seeking witnesses and dash-cam footage from anyone driving in the area between 5:30 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. The eastbound lanes were temporarily closed, with traffic diverted to Canada Way.
In a separate incident, a 23-year-old man from Invermere died following a single-vehicle crash on Highway 93 in Kootenay National Park. The crash occurred near the Floe Lake trailhead on Friday night when a Nissan Maxima left the road and traveled down an embankment. While the female driver was not seriously injured, the passenger died at the scene. Investigators are looking for witnesses who may have seen the vehicle in operation or observed the occupants at establishments in Banff prior to the accident.
