Kopassus officer Jihad Ahmad dies in weapon warehouse accident
Kopassus officer Letda Inf Jihad Ahmad Al-Rasyid died on Saturday, October 24, 2026, following an incident at the Group 2 Kopassus equipment warehouse in Kartasura, Sukoharjo, Central Java.
Kopassus Public Relations Chief Colonel Indra Mardianto stated that the death was caused by a pistol exploding, characterizing the event as a result of pure negligence and an accident. He denied social media reports suggesting the death was the result of a shooting. The incident was captured on CCTV.
The case is being transferred to the Surakarta Military Police Detachment (Denpom) for a full investigation. The deceased, originally from Raja Ampat, West Papua Daya, was given a military burial in Sorong on Sunday, October 25, 2026.
