Koper to host 30th climbing World Series event

Slovenia will host the 30th edition of the climbing World Series in Koper on September 4 and 5, 2026. This jubilee event marks a significant milestone for the sport in the country, which began hosting World Cup competitions in Kranj three decades ago.

Leading the Slovenian contingent is Janja Garnbret, who recently achieved her 50th World Cup victory in Austria. Garnbret aims to secure her fourth victory at this specific venue. The men's competition will feature Slovenian favorite Luka Potočar. Other notable Slovenian competitors include Rosa Rekar, Mia Krampl, Lučka Rakovec, Lana Gorič, Sara Čopar, Lucija Tarkuš, Jennifer Buckley, Lovro Črep, Jaka Jaki, and Samo Golob.

Historically, Slovenian climbers have seen significant success at these events, securing 14 wins and 35 podium finishes across 92 appearances in Kranj and Koper.
