Koper to host sport climbing World Cup this September

Koper is set to host the sport climbing World Cup on September 4 and 5. This event marks the 30th edition of the World Cup in Slovenia and the fifth time the city of Koper has hosted the competition.

Organizers have introduced the competition and spectator programs, highlighting the event as the largest sporting occasion in Slovenia this year. The climbing center in Koper features approximately 700 square meters of indoor climbing surfaces and a 900-square-meter outdoor wall. The facility includes disciplines for bouldering, speed, and lead climbing, with an outdoor wall measuring 30 meters long and 18 meters high.

Organizing Committee President Alenka Žnidaršič Kranjc noted that the committee aims to strengthen financial support for the event in the future, pointing out that similar events in neighboring countries often operate with significantly larger budgets. Organizing leader Matej Planko stated that interest in the competition continues to grow annually.
