KDKMP village cooperatives expand distribution of subsidized goods in Indonesia
The Koperasi Desa/Kelurahan Merah Putih (KDKMP) program is expanding across Indonesia, serving as a strategic hub for distributing subsidized goods and strengthening the rural economy. As of mid-October 2026, 10,070 cooperatives are operational, recording total transactions of Rp208.64 billion. Major commodities driving these transactions include medium rice (SPHP) at Rp92.98 billion and cooking oil at Rp47.07 billion.
Key institutional integrations are underway. Pupuk Indonesia is incorporating KDKMP into its subsidized fertilizer distribution network, allowing farmers to redeem supplies locally using only their ID cards. Additionally, PLN is providing electricity transaction services through the cooperatives. The Ministry of Cooperatives projects that the program could save households between Rp200,000 and Rp300,000 per month by providing affordable access to essential goods like LPG, rice, and oil.
While the program scales, several logistical and administrative aspects are being addressed. The TNI is conducting field verifications in regions like Pacitan, Ponorogo, and Madiun to ensure physical and administrative readiness. In areas where KDKMP is not yet established, such as parts of Sulawesi, Kalimantan, and Papua, social assistance (bansos) will continue to be distributed through traditional village offices. Regarding rumors of civil servant (PNS) salaries being paid via KDKMP, the Ministry of Finance clarified that no such discussions have taken place, maintaining the current direct government-to-person payment mechanism.
