Koprivnica awards Nataša Govedić the Fran Galović prize
Nataša Govedić has been awarded the ‘Fran Galović’ prize for her novel ‘Div’. The award, presented during the ‘Galovićeva jesen’ literary festival in Koprivnica, recognizes the best book written on the themes of homeland and identity. This year’s competition received 60 entries, consisting of 43 prose and 17 poetry titles. The prize includes 5,000 euros and artwork by Vlade Marteka.
The expert jury praised the winning novel for its linguistic playfulness, imagination, and original approach to identity and the search for meaning. While the form is playful, the committee noted that the work raises serious questions regarding human difference and belonging.
Additionally, the ‘Mali Galović’ awards were presented for student literary creativity. The first prize went to Leonarda Rukavina from Zadar for the poem ‘Konop’. Second place was awarded to Maša Kresojević from Koprivnica for the short story ‘Vrana’, and third place to Eva Siladić from Ludbreg for the poem ‘Polek nje’.
