Koprivnica hosts gathering for National Breastfeeding Week

In observance of National Breastfeeding Week, held from October 1 to 7, a public gathering took place at Zrinjski Square in Koprivnica to promote the importance of breastfeeding for the health of mothers and children.

The event aimed to advocate for breastfeeding as a natural part of daily life and to emphasize the necessity of creating supportive environments for families. Participants included representatives from the Koprivnica-Križevci County Health Center, the RODA – Parents in Action association, and staff from the neonatology department of the Koprivnica General Hospital.

Andrea Novak, a community nurse at the local health center, noted that the observance occurs during the 40th week of the year, a symbolic number representing the end of pregnancy. The initiative included professional advice and experience sharing for breastfeeding mothers and pregnant women. Following the Koprivnica event, scheduled activities were set to continue in Đurđevac and Križevci.
