Korçë authorities investigate suspected child poisoning at kindergarten

Authorities in Korçë have launched a criminal investigation following reports that six children exhibited gastrointestinal symptoms after consuming food at a local kindergarten. Parents expressed significant concern, noting that other children may have also shown similar symptoms without seeking hospital treatment.

Police have initiated legal proceedings for “misuse of duty” against two individuals: a 57-year-old pediatrician at the Korçë Regional Hospital and the 60-year-old director of the kindergarten. The doctor is accused of failing to notify authorities about the children presenting with poisoning symptoms, while the kindergarten director is suspected of failing to fulfill functional obligations regarding the inspection and verification of the food consumed by the children. The case is being referred to the Prosecutor's Office at the Court of First Instance in Korçë.
