Albanian police arrest suspects in smuggling and theft operations

Albanian authorities have conducted several successful police operations targeting various criminal activities across the country.

In Korçë, under operation ‘Borders 2’, police arrested a 32-year-old man for transporting seven migrants—two from Bangladesh and five from Somalia—toward Montenegro. An accomplice, a 41-year-old, remains at large after fleeing a police checkpoint.

In Gjirokastër, two 43-year-old men from Tirana were arrested during operation ‘Akciza 3’ for smuggling goods from Greece. Authorities seized 100 packs of cigarettes, over 22,000 euros, and various other products including meat, dairy, and medicines.

In Tirana, a 39-year-old woman, Kumrie Zika, was apprehended during operation ‘Skema’. She is accused of working temporarily at various businesses to gain access to their premises before stealing daily cash revenues. Police have documented five such theft cases.
