Korça hosts third edition of Serenights Festival

The third edition of the ‘Serenights Festival’ has commenced in Korça, reviving the city’s traditional serenades through a four-day musical celebration. The festival utilizes various characteristic locations, including Bashta Themistokli, the Old Bazaar, and the Metropolis Square, to blend traditional serenades with contemporary interpretations.

The opening night focused on emerging local talent, featuring a repertoire that combines classic Korça serenades with well-known Albanian songs. The event is scheduled to run until September 20, with upcoming performances expected from established Albanian musicians such as Mihallaq Andrea, Eli Fara, and Redon Makashi.

Historically, Korça serenades were romantic dedications performed with guitars and mandolins under windows. The festival aims to preserve this musical heritage by transitioning it from street tradition to organized public stages, ensuring the continuity of the custom across generations.
