Kora Karvouni reflects on final collaboration with Alexis Stamatis

Actress Kora Karvouni has shared emotional details regarding her final collaboration with the late Greek writer Alexis Stamatis. Speaking on the ERTnews program ‘Enas ki Enas’, Karvouni revealed that Stamatis had managed to view a video recording of nearly half of their upcoming production, ‘Sappho’, just days before his passing.

Karvouni described the shock of learning about Stamatis’s death through a journalist’s inquiry while she was on a film set. She noted that the playwright had been facing health issues, though he had not spoken openly about them. The play, directed by Nikaia Kontouri, is scheduled to premiere in November 2026 at the Katerina Vasilakou Theatre and is now viewed by the cast as both a farewell and a tribute to his work.
