Korala border customs collects Rs 1.78 billion in 15 days
The Mustang Customs Office at the Korala border point has collected Rs 1.7844 billion in revenue over a 15-day period. This surge in revenue follows a significant increase in imports from China after the closure of the Rasuwagadhi Kerung and Tatopani border points due to flooding and road damage.
Customs Chief Bidur Chudal reported that daily collections have averaged approximately Rs 300 million since Bhadra 22. On a single Friday, the office cleared 71 containers and 106 electric vehicles, generating Rs 271.1 million. Between Bhadra 10 and Bhadra 25, a total of 434 containers and 641 electric vehicles were cleared through the crossing.
Previously used primarily for local residents of Upper Mustang, the Korala border was opened by the government as an alternative trade route last year following floods and landslides that disrupted other northern trade routes. Total revenue from goods and vehicles entering through Korala has reached Rs 2.3144 billion since the start of the current fiscal year 2083/84.
