Koraput police arrest five for murder of college student

Police in Odisha’s Koraput district have arrested five individuals, including two minors, in connection with the murder of 19-year-old college student Debasish Kishan Kuldeep. The victim was a second-year student at Borigumma College.

The arrests occurred within 24 hours of the incident. Authorities identified the adult suspects as Jaga Harijan (20), Dinesh Takiri (20), and Chandra Kanta Harijan (18). Several of the accused are reportedly students at Vikram Dev University.

Investigators stated the killing stemmed from a long-standing personal enmity between the victim and one of the minors. Following a physical altercation on Friday, the suspects allegedly used a knife and an iron rod to attack the victim. Police have seized the weapons, mobile phones, and two motorcycles used during the crime.
