Korczyna to commemorate poet and translator Jan Zych

The community of Korczyna will host ‘Poetycka kawka u Zycha’ (Poetic Coffee with Zych) to commemorate the life and work of poet and translator Jan Zych. The event is organized by the Municipal Cultural Center, the Public Library, the Korczyna Theater Group ‘Słoiki’, and Cukiernia Milana.

Jan Zych, who passed away in Mexico in 1995, was known for his sensitivity and his translations of Bulgarian poetry. His work notably influenced Marek Grechuta’s compositions, such as ‘Kantata’ and ‘Gdziekolwiek’.

The commemoration will begin with a ceremony at a plaque located on the library building, followed by a gathering in the confectionery garden on the Korczyna market square. Participants will engage in reading Bulgarian poems translated by Zych and discussing his literary contributions.
