Korda Networks appoints Pioneer Consulting for Iceland–Scotland cable
Korda Networks has appointed Pioneer Consulting as the lead adviser for the AUDUR submarine cable project, which aims to connect Iceland and Scotland. The project is targeted to enter service in late 2029 or early 2030.
Pioneer Consulting will oversee project strategy, tendering, bid evaluation, and supplier selection for marine surveys, cable manufacturing, and installation. They will also provide project management services throughout the construction phases.
The approximately 1,300km cable will land in Meðalland on Iceland’s south coast and Irvine Bay on the Firth of Clyde in Scotland. The link is expected to provide high capacity, utilizing 16–24 fibre pairs to achieve 320–480Tbps of capacity. A new service delivery site is planned for Glasgow to offer connectivity to London, Ireland, the Nordic region, and continental Europe.
A marine survey is scheduled for summer 2027, with construction for terrestrial fibre routes expected to begin around the same time.
