Kore-eda Hirokazu to receive honorary award at Singapore Film Festival

The 37th Singapore International Film Festival (SGIFF) will present the Cinema Honorary Award to acclaimed Japanese filmmaker Kore-eda Hirokazu. The award recognizes directors who have made a lasting impact on Asian cinema. Kore-eda, known for works such as the Palme d’Or-winning ‘Shoplifters’, ‘Broker’, and ‘Monster’, is scheduled to participate in an ‘In Conversation With’ session on October 24.

During the festival, which runs from October 21 to November 1, Kore-eda will also attend the Southeast Asia premiere of his film ‘Look Back’. The film is the first live-action feature adaptation of a manga by Fujimoto Tatsuki and follows the evolving relationship between two young artists.

Additionally, Korean director Yim Soon-rye has been appointed as the jury head for the festival’s Asian Feature Film Competition.
