Korea AeroSpace Administration proposes 1.65 trillion KRW budget for 2027

The Korea AeroSpace Administration (KASA) has announced a 2027 government budget proposal totaling 1.6491 trillion KRW, representing a significant increase from the 1.1201 trillion KRW allocated in 2026.

KASA aims to transition from government-led technology development to fostering a private-sector-driven industrial ecosystem. Key investment areas include space transportation, lunar exploration, advanced satellites, and future aviation. Specifically, the agency plans to invest 562.9 billion KRW in space transportation to establish a regular launch system and upgrade the Naro Space Center.

To expand the space economy, 279.4 billion KRW will be directed toward lunar exploration, including the development of lunar orbit communication satellites and small lunar landers. Additionally, 264.7 billion KRW is earmarked for the satellite industry to develop high-resolution observation satellites and the Korean Positioning System (KPS). The budget also includes 56.8 billion KRW for future aviation mobility and drone technologies.
