Korea-Africa Ministerial Conference focuses on AI and digital infrastructure
The 8th Korea-Africa Economic Cooperation (KOAFEC) Ministerial Conference has convened in Seoul, focusing on the theme “Harnessing AI and Digital Infrastructure for Africa’s Transformation.” This marks the first time the 20-year-old partnership has centered its agenda on artificial intelligence.
The four-day event brings together African ministers, Korean officials, investors, and private sector leaders to discuss how Korean expertise in AI, ICT, energy, and manufacturing can support African development. The African Development Bank Group, a founding partner of KOAFEC, is participating with a delegation led by President Dr. Sidi Ould Tah.
This conference follows South Korea’s recent approval of a $170 million concessional loan to establish an AI and digital technology institute in Tanzania. This project includes training in robotics, data analytics, and IoT, alongside the construction of laboratories and campus facilities.
