Korea Customs Service announces Chuseok special support measures

The Korea Customs Service has announced a special support plan for the Chuseok holiday to ensure the rapid clearance of seasonal goods and raw materials. From September 7 to 27, 34 customs offices nationwide will operate 24-hour special clearance teams to facilitate the timely supply of essential items and urgent materials, including a dedicated team for overseas direct purchases at major airports and ports.

To support price stability, the agency will monitor items subject to quota tariffs, such as frozen pork and fruit, to prevent delays in import declarations. The agency will also disclose the import prices of 89 key agricultural, livestock, and fishery products—including beef, sesame, and octopus—on three separate occasions to assist with consumer price management.

To ease the financial burden on exporters, special customs refund support will be provided from September 10 to 23, with a principle of same-day payments. Additionally, sincere small and medium-sized enterprises may be allowed to extend payment deadlines for up to one year without collateral or make up to six installment payments. The plan also includes intensified crackdowns on origin labeling violations to prevent imported goods from being falsely sold as domestic products.
