Korea Food Industry Association and Korea Energy Agency sign energy efficiency pact

The Korea Food Industry Association and the Korea Energy Agency have signed a memorandum of understanding to expand solar power and energy efficiency within the food manufacturing sector.

The agreement aims to support food production facilities in adopting solar energy and improving energy efficiency to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and respond to climate change. By establishing this cooperation, the initiative seeks to alleviate the energy cost burden on food companies, support the implementation of carbon neutrality and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) standards, and strengthen the export competitiveness of K-food against global environmental requirements.

Key areas of cooperation include: • Supporting carbon neutrality and ESG implementation through solar power and energy efficiency improvements. • Promoting policies and providing information on support programs related to solar energy and climate change. • Conducting surveys and sharing data regarding the status of climate change response in food factories. • Identifying new methods for solar power and energy efficiency cooperation.

The Korea Food Industry Association will identify the needs and current status of its member companies, while the Korea Energy Agency will provide policy information and incorporate feedback from food companies into its business implementation.
