Korea Football Association vows legal action against player defamation
The Korea Football Association (KFA) has announced it will take strict legal action against the spread of malicious rumors, deepfake videos, and personal attacks targeting national team players. The KFA noted that fragmented interpretations of training footage and false rumors regarding internal discord are causing significant mental distress to players and harming Korean football.
Separately, concerns are rising regarding the 2027 Asian Cup scheduled to be held in Saudi Arabia. Due to regional instability and missile attacks by Houthi rebels targeting Saudi infrastructure, including Riyadh, there are discussions about the tournament's safety. While the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) reportedly intends to proceed with the event—potentially influenced by major Saudi sponsors—the Japan Football Association has already withdrawn from a FIFAe World Cup in the region due to security concerns. This situation has led to speculation that other nations, including South Korea, may reconsider participation to ensure player safety.
