Korea Foundation for Suicide Prevention strengthens abuse response for disabled persons

The Korea Foundation for Suicide Prevention has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Central Disability Rights Advocacy Agency to strengthen response systems for abused persons with disabilities.

Recognizing that victims of abuse often face high risks of depression, PTSD, and social isolation, the two organizations aim to establish a system to identify high-risk individuals early and connect them with tailored support services. The partnership will focus on developing integrated suicide risk screening tools that account for specific disability types, as existing tools often fail to reflect these unique characteristics.

Additionally, the collaboration will include training programs for disability rights advocacy workers to improve suicide prevention capabilities and joint initiatives to promote a culture of respect for life and raise awareness regarding disability abuse.
