Korea Ocean Business Corporation earns SBHR Level 2 certification
Korea Ocean Business Corporation (KOBC) has become the first to obtain the ‘Sustainable Human Rights Management (SBHR) Level 2’ certification from Korea ESG Data. Unlike Level 1, which focuses on establishing a framework, Level 2 verifies that human rights management is actively functioning within the organization and producing tangible operational results.
To ensure objectivity, KOBC operates an external independent human rights center commissioned to a law firm. This center utilizes a human rights infringement remedy committee composed of outside experts to enhance professionalism and protect the anonymity and confidentiality of victims.
The corporation also conducted in-depth group interviews with vulnerable groups, including non-regular workers and resident partner companies, to identify field-level risks. Additionally, KOBC implements a ‘mutual respect mileage system’ to encourage a culture of respect among employees. CEO Ahn Byung-gil stated that the company aims to strengthen its protection systems and expand a culture of human rights respect throughout the maritime industry.
