Korea Securities Depository launches campaign to return unclaimed assets
The Korea Securities Depository (KSD) has launched an eight-week campaign, running from October 6 to November 30, to help investors reclaim unclaimed stocks and dividends. As of late September, the KSD is managing approximately 45.1 billion KRW in cash and 2.32 million shares of unclaimed assets.
These assets, referred to as 'unclaimed dividends and profits,' stem from physical stock certificates that investors withdrew from securities firms but failed to register under their own names. The cash amount includes 28.6 billion KRW contributed to the Inclusive Finance Agency.
To increase awareness, the KSD is collaborating with four major securities firms: NH Investment & Securities, Mirae Asset Securities, KB Securities, and Samsung Securities. These firms will provide guidance to investors on how to check for and claim these assets. Investors can use the 'Unclaimed Dividend Inquiry Service' on the KSD website to verify if they have any outstanding funds or shares.
