Korea Securities Depository launches eVOP electronic voting platform
The Korea Securities Depository (KSD) has launched 'eVOP' (Electronic Voting Platform), a comprehensive digital service designed to support electronic shareholder meetings. The platform integrates the existing K-VOTE system and will support the entire voting process, from pre-shareholder meeting electronic voting to real-time voting during the meeting itself.
Following the implementation of the revised Commercial Act on January 1, 2025, the platform will facilitate electronic shareholder meetings. Key features include support for foreign shareholders, video integration, and voice-based inquiry and speech functions. While institutional investors and corporations can use the service without new registration, individual shareholders must complete a new membership process.
To ensure a smooth transition, KSD is conducting a two-week system inspection period. On November 4, a commemorative ceremony will be held in cooperation with the Ministry of Justice, involving various financial and legal institutions, followed by a seminar on legal issues regarding electronic shareholder meetings.
