Korea Shipping Association hosts AI technology briefing in Busan

The Busan branch of the Korea Shipping Association held an ‘AI Transformation (AX) Strategic Technology Briefing’ on September 2 at the Busan Trade Center. The event was attended by approximately 100 representatives from shipping companies and ship management firms, as well as officials from the Busan Metropolitan City Hall and the Consulate General of Japan in Busan.

During the briefing, eight companies, including Marine Works and HD Hyundai Marine Solution, presented various AX technologies. Key topics included optimal route planning, smart documentation, predictive maintenance, and onboard accident prevention. The session aimed to facilitate technical cooperation between technology developers and shipping companies.

Industry leaders, including SK Shipping CEO Kim Seong-ik and HMM Ocean Service CEO Nam Jae-il, emphasized the importance of transitioning from digital transformation to AI-driven strategies to enhance competitiveness and prevent maritime accidents. The Korea Shipping Association stated it plans to regularize such events to support the successful AI transition of domestic shipping companies.
