Korea Tourism Organization Launches K League Trip Day Sports Tourism Program
The Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) and the Korea Professional Football Federation have begun operating “K League Trip Day,” a sports‑tourism product that pairs attendance at K League football matches with regional travel packages. The program, which starts on 25 July with the K League 2 match between Busan IPark and Suwon Samsung Bluewings, will run weekly throughout the season. Each match can host up to 100 participants, who can choose a same‑day tour or a 1‑night‑2‑day stay that includes visits to local attractions such as Busan’s Haeundae Beach, the Blue Line Park, Jeonju Hanok Village, and the Gyeongbuk Arboretum.
A pilot in May saw more than 150 fans of FC Seoul and Incheon United travel by a dedicated train to Daejeon, watch a match and tour a famous bakery, receiving strong positive feedback. KTO official Kang Yu‑young said, “Sports spectators are increasingly visiting regions, but dedicated travel products are still scarce; we will expand support so fans’ trips become lasting tourism experiences.” The agency will extend the offering to all K League clubs outside the Seoul metropolitan area, providing home‑ and away‑fan‑customized packages each round.
