Korea University Guro Hospital breaks ground on Saeam Hospital
Korea University Guro Hospital has officially commenced construction on Saeam Hospital, a new facility designed to serve as a future-oriented cancer treatment platform. The groundbreaking ceremony was held on the 22nd, attended by approximately 200 officials, including leadership from the Korea University Medical Center and local government representatives.
The new facility will span approximately 30,458 square meters across nine basement levels and six floors above ground, with a target completion date of late 2029. The project aims to expand specialized centers, including breast cancer, thyroid cancer, gastrointestinal endoscopy, respiratory, and chemotherapy units.
Beyond increasing physical space, the hospital plans to integrate diagnosis, treatment, and clinical research into a seamless system. Key improvements include doubling the size of the regional emergency medical center and enhancing capabilities for multidisciplinary care, precision medicine, and high-difficulty surgeries to better serve severe and critical patients.
