Korea Volleyball Federation issues sanctions for misconduct and salary violations

The Korea Volleyball Federation (KOVO) has finalized disciplinary actions following allegations of sexual misconduct and salary cap violations within professional volleyball.

A former coach from the Jung Kwan Jang team has been handed a five-year suspension after the KOVO disciplinary committee determined his actions constituted a serious anti-social act involving sexual misconduct toward a player. The incident reportedly occurred during a team dinner in January.

In the same investigation, a former head coach was issued a warning and a 3 million won fine. While the committee ruled that his actions did not constitute sexual misconduct, they determined his inappropriate language and conduct in an improper setting amounted to a violation of dignity and professional conduct standards.

Additionally, the federation addressed salary cap violations. One club was fined 12 million won after it was discovered they exceeded the total player compensation limit by 12 million won due to the payment of captain's allowances. The committee noted the violation appeared to be an administrative error rather than a deliberate attempt to bypass regulations. Another club was cleared of wrongdoing after an investigation into a 500,000 won incentive payment for a national team player was deemed a legitimate welfare benefit.
