Korean Air fined for security breach at Gimpo Airport

Korean Air has been fined 10 million won (approximately $7,461) by South Korea’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport following a security breach at Gimpo Airport. The incident occurred on June 7 when passengers arriving on flight KE2106 from Tokyo’s Haneda Airport were incorrectly routed.

After landing, passengers boarded shuttle buses intended to transport them to the international terminal. However, a bus operated by a ground handling company mistakenly carried 52 passengers to the domestic terminal. This error allowed the passengers to enter the terminal building and mix with domestic travelers from other airlines without undergoing required immigration checks.

Four passengers reportedly left the airport before the error was identified, though they later returned to complete the necessary immigration procedures. Korean Air stated it is reviewing its ground operations to prevent similar occurrences and coordinated with authorities to rectify the situation.
