Korean Cultural Center in Japan opens GLOBAL K-ZONE experiential space
The Korean Cultural Center in Japan has opened ‘GLOBAL K-ZONE’, a new experiential space in Yotsuya, Tokyo, designed to showcase contemporary South Korean trends and culture. The facility aims to move beyond traditional exhibitions by offering interactive programs, performances, and hands-on activities.
The space operates on a rotating theme system. From September to October, the focus is ‘K-BEAUTY JOURNEY’, featuring 194 products from 52 brands, including award winners. Activities include AI-driven skin analysis, customized beauty drinks, lip gloss making, and workshops. The second floor includes a ‘K-BEAUTY LOUNGE’ for product testing and performances blending makeup with modern ballet.
From November to December, the theme shifts to ‘Discover Korean Lifestyle’, highlighting traditional elements such as Hanbok fitting, kimchi making, and mother-of-pearl crafts, alongside modern reinterpretations of traditional Korean dance. Director Park Young-hye stated that this is a first for the center, aiming to create a welcoming environment for those unfamiliar with the institution to experience Korean values and lifestyles.
