Korean Culture Festival draws 100,000 people to São Paulo

The 19th edition of the Korean Culture Festival has commenced in the Bom Retiro neighborhood of São Paulo. Organized by the Brazilian Association of Koreans with support from the Korean Cultural Center in Brazil, the event has grown significantly since its inception in 2006.

Originally a community gathering for immigrants, the festival now attracts over 100,000 visitors, driven largely by global interest in K-pop, K-dramas, and Korean cinema. The lineup features singer Gaho, known for performing soundtracks for series such as ‘Itaewon Class’, who is scheduled to perform on the main stage.

Festival president Bruno Kim noted the evolution of the event from a small gathering of approximately 5,000 people to a major cultural landmark that reflects the widespread popularity of South Korean media in Brazil.
