Korean developer hit with $16 million Anthropic AI billing error

A Korean software developer known as remy_notes reported receiving two massive Stripe payment‑failure notices from Anthropic for its Claude AI service. Although the Claude API dashboard showed $0 usage, the invoices listed charges of about $1.6 million and $16.6 million (≈NT$5.3 billion). The developer could not locate any processes that generated such usage and suspects either an infinite‑loop in an AI agent or a billing system fault. After halting the credit‑card linked to the account and cancelling the Claude Max subscription, the developer contacted Anthropic for a refund, but the company has not yet issued a response or clarified the cause.
