Korean expatriate wins record Vietlott jackpot in Vietnam

A South Korean national, identified as K. S. H, who lives in Hanoi and works in Bắc Ninh province, was awarded the Jackpot 1 prize of Vietlott’s Power 6/55 lottery on 21 July 2026. The winning ticket, sold at a shop on Nguyễn Đăng Đạo in Kinh Bắc, yielded a top prize of 102.862 billion dong (about 5 billion yen or 6.42 million USD), the highest payout ever to a foreign winner in Vietnam.

The win marks the fourth time a foreigner has taken the top prize, after two previous Korean winners and one Chinese winner. Under Vietnamese tax law, K. S. H paid more than 10.2 billion dong in personal income tax, leaving a net receipt of roughly 92.6 billion dong. At the award ceremony he donated 1.5 billion dong to a social‑welfare fund.

K. S. H explained that he buys Vietlott tickets two times a week, usually 20‑30 tickets per visit, and increases to about 50 tickets when the jackpot climbs. He discovered the win by checking the results on Vietlott’s website and app, confirming the numbers 09‑17‑20‑33‑41‑42 multiple times before accepting the outcome.
