The Odyssey becomes highest-grossing R-rated film ever
Christopher Nolan’s film ‘The Odyssey’ has become the highest-grossing R-rated movie of all time, earning approximately $1.352 billion globally. This achievement unseats the previous record holder, ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ (2024), which had collected $1.338 billion.
Produced by Universal Pictures and starring Matt Damon, the adaptation of Homer’s epic poem has seen significant success in various markets. It earned $516 million domestically in the United States and $835 million internationally. The film also set a record as the highest-grossing IMAX release, earning $354 million in that format.
In addition to its R-rated record, ‘The Odyssey’ is the highest-grossing film of Christopher Nolan’s career, surpassing ‘The Dark Knight Rises’. The film’s theatrical run has shown strong staying power, including notable performances in markets like India and France.
