Korean Hospital Association addresses regional medical issues in Busan
The Korean Hospital Association (KHA) held its 4th standing board meeting and the first meeting of its Win-Win Cooperation Special Committee in Busan to address regional healthcare challenges and administrative updates.
Key initiatives discussed include the establishment of a medical liability mutual aid association to mitigate the financial and administrative burdens of medical accidents following amendments to the Medical Dispute Mediation Act. The association is also participating in discussions regarding the scope of high-risk essential medical practices and liability insurance requirements.
Regarding nursing support, the KHA is implementing guidelines for the new nurse-led clinical support system to minimize operational gaps. Additionally, a support project for essential medical nurses is underway, providing labor cost subsidies for educators in intensive care, operating rooms, and emergency departments.
During the meeting, committee leaders emphasized the need for improved perception, institutional reform, and infrastructure to prevent patient outflow from regional areas to the Seoul metropolitan area. The KHA also announced that it will host the 49th World Hospital Congress in October 2026.
