Korean language and literacy initiatives gain momentum in Korea and New York
In South Korea, senior citizens from the Korea Senior Citizens Association Tongyeong Branch received multiple awards at the National Adult Literacy Education Poetry and Painting Exhibition held at the Changwon Convention Center. Participants Kim Jong-yi, Park Moon-ja, and Ko Jeong-sun won prestigious awards, including the National Institute for Lifelong Education Director's Award, for expressing their life stories through poetry learned in literacy classes.
In the United States, the Korean Association of New York and the Korean Education Center in New York have agreed to co-host a Korean language speech contest for foreigners in the first half of next year. The initiative aims to support the growing interest in learning Korean and will include discussions on expanding support for Korean schools and educational training programs for students and foreigners.
