Korean literature adaptation project launched in Vietnam

The Korean Cultural Center in Vietnam and the Youth Theatre of Vietnam are collaborating to adapt the South Korean literary work “The Escaped Hen” into a stage play. The project aims for a public performance in 2027.

South Korean author Hwang Sun Mi recently visited the Youth Theatre of Vietnam to discuss the adaptation process with Director Nguyen Si Tien. During the visit, students from Hanoi University—the winners of the “2026 Korean Literary Stage Competition”—performed segments of the work to demonstrate their interpretation of the text. This initiative is expected to further promote literary and cultural exchange between South Korea and Vietnam.
